Billing

When students check-in for their appointments at the Health Center, they are presented with several billing preferences prior to treatment.

Most students are billed in one of the following ways:

REGULAR BILLING

(the only method for students who wish to be reimbursed by their private health insurance companies)

How it works: After treatment, charges appear on the UO student account (click here to view a duckweb screenshot).  Students are responsible for paying these charges.

If a student has private health insurance: Students should check with their insurance company prior to their visit to verify that they will be reimbursed for services rendered at the Health Center. Upon request, we will print an insurance reimbursement form with specific treatment billing codes for submission by the student to his or her private insurance company (click here to view a sample form). It is the student’s responsibility to submit this form. The student’s insurance company will independently process the claim per the terms and conditions of the plan. If the insurance company approves the claim, they will send the student a reimbursement check.  In the event an insurance company sends a reimbursement check to the Health Center, the student’s UO student account will be credited.

CONFIDENTIAL BILLING

How it works: After treatment, generic charges appear on the student’s UO student account (click here to view a duckweb screenshot).  The student is responsible for paying these charges.  The specifics of the treatment will not appear on the UO student account, and no insurance reimbursement forms will be generated.

PAY CASH

How it works: After treatment, the student pays cash.  No record of the visit or treatment will appear on the student’s UO student account, and no insurance reimbursement forms will be generated.

STUDENT HEALTH INSURANCE

How it works: After treatment, we submit the student’s claim to the insurance company. Anything not covered by the insurance company will be billed to the student’s UO student account (click here to view a duckweb screenshot).  The student is responsible for paying these charges.

OTHER TYPES OF BILLING

International Student Health Insurance Plan. With the exception of dental services, international students with the international student health insurance plan will not be charged for treatment.

Oregon Health Plan (OHP): Managed Care Plan. Health Center visits will not be covered by OHP except for family planning services.   Students may choose to be billed by Regular Billing, Confidential Billing, or may pay cash.

Oregon Health Plan (OHP): Open Plan. After treatment, we submit the student’s claim to OHP. Anything not covered by OHP will be billed to the student’s UO student account (click here to view a duckweb screenshot).  The student is responsible for paying these charges.

Workers Compensation: After treatment, with the proper paperwork and releases, we submit the student’s claim. If the claim is denied by the insurance company, the charges will be billed to the student’s UO student account (click here to view a duckweb screenshot).  The student is responsible for paying these charges.

Sexual Assault (SANE) Exams: SANE exams are strictly confidential. The student will not be charged. No record of treatment will appear on the student’s UO student account, and no insurance reimbursement forms will be generated.

Oregon ContraceptiveCare (CCare) Visits:
The State of Oregon is currently overhauling the CCare program. Check back for updates on CCare billing.

Medicare:  The Health Center is unable to provide services to Medicare beneficiaries. The student will need to utilize a Medicare provider in the community.
