Dana has worked in college health since 1974 at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), Northern Illinois University (DeKalb), and Marquette University (Milwaukee). He also spent 4 years traveling full-time as an independent higher education health care consultant for Stephen L. Beckley & Associates, Inc. (Denver).
Dana is known for his expertise in college health organization and financing, strategic planning and benchmarking, collaborative Public Health perspective, and student health insurance program development. He co-authored a chapter on administration and financing in the college health text “History and Practice of College Health” (2002).
He is an active member of the American College Health Association (and former Chair of the Benchmarking Advisory Committee and Student Health Insurance Task Force) and Pacific Coast College Health Association. He has presented dozens of times at ACHA and regional affiliate meetings. He is an ACHA Fellow and ACHA consultant. He is the former President of the regional affiliate, North Central College Health Association, and is a recipient of NCCHA’s Dr. Gail Proffitt award.

started medicine, I worked at everything from a fish cannery in Alaska to a
publishing company in Boston. I have traveled in 14 countries, and my favorites
were Korea and Turkey.
I first moved to Eugene in 1978, moved back in 1995,
and can’t imagine living anywhere else! I enjoy bicycling, Cycle Oregon, and board
games with friends.

I am responsible for the direction and management of all
business operations which includes budgetary management, procurement, contracts
and payroll. I also serve as a resource for the Health Center procedures,
policies and processes. Another primary
aspect of my position is to serve as the Human Resource Director for the Health
Center.
I have been at the Health Center since 1993 and have served
as Business Manager and Building Manager prior to becoming Finance and
Personnel Administrator. My earlier career paths included: administrative
support for the Budget Office, payroll coordinator for the Housing Department
and the university payroll manager for Business Affairs.

I have 41 years of nursing experience including hospital, medical/surgical,
urgent care and clinical.
I have worked at the University of Oregon Health Center in 1971-1973 and
from 1979 to current.
Areas of Interest
My professional areas of interest are suicide prevention, strategic planning,
diversity training and development, women in Leadership, team building,
emergency management, healthy campus initiative medicine and community health.
Outside of work, my interests are my family, cooking, singing, reading
and walking.

Personal
I was born in Oregon and do not anticipate living anywhere
else on a permanent basis. I love to travel to other countries, cook meals
using produce from the Farmer’s Market, share meals with friends, garden,
exercise, listen to music, read and play.
