Personal
Before I
started medicine, I worked at everything from a fish cannery in Alaska to a
publishing company in Boston. I have traveled in 14 countries, and my favorites
were Korea and Turkey.
I first moved to Eugene in 1978, moved back in 1995,
and can’t imagine living anywhere else! I enjoy bicycling, Cycle Oregon, and board
games with friends.

Bio
Born in
Victoria, Canada, I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was fascinated
with the complexity of the world around me and so graduated with a B.S. in
Biology from Santa Clara University and went on to obtain a medical degree from
Georgetown University. I completed my
residency in family medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma,
Washington.
Following
service in the US military, I had the opportunity to train physicians
specializing in rural and indigent care in the Salinas Valley of California. While there I was able to practice many
aspects of family medicine ranging from obstetric to HIV care. I continued to train physicians at the
University of California, Davis, and, after discovering Oregon moved to Eugene.
Oregon has
given my family and me the opportunity to enjoy biking, hiking, rain, rural
adventures, and the beach. The University has given me the opportunity to work
together with students on health issues so that health problems do not keep any
one of us from reaching our goals.
