Bio
I have been a nurse for over 40 years. I knew at the age of 6 years old that I wanted to be a nurse. I was a Candy Striper in High school, trained by the Red Cross. Upon graduating from high school, I worked at Good Samaritan Care Center as a Nurse's Aide for 1 year.
I attended LCC Nursing School and graduated as a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)in 1970. I worked as a LPN at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Pediatric floor from1970 to 1975 when I went to work for Eugene Hospital and clinic for a Vascular Surgeon. I was accepted into the LCC RN program in 1981 and graduated as an RN in1982. I continued to work at Eugene Hospital and Clinic. I transferred back to Sacred Heart Hospital in the Ask-A-Nurse program where I worked for almost 17 years; from the day it opened to the day it closed.I came to the UHC in April 2006. I am the lead Nurse in Triage.
In 2008 I was one of 3 recipients of the LCC Distinguished Alumni Award which I consider a honor.
I have twins; a son and a daughter. They are both in law enforcement. I have 3 grand children. I love to fish, camp, do geocaching, travel, hike, bake, shop at thrift stores and rock hunting. I love spending time with my grandchildren, kids and husband. I like to socialize and I belong to Eugene's Altair Ski and Sports Club.
I especially enjoy working with the student population and addressing their health care needs and concerns. It is very rewarding. I love theteaching aspects of my job.

I have had the pleasure of working at the University of Oregon for the past four years in the Nurse Specialty Clinic as a staff nurse, and now as the Lead Nurse.
I enjoy interacting with our diverse student population. I welcome the daily opportunity to help educate our students on making healthy lifestyle choices. I think the thing I love the best is teaching our students to be in tuned to the subtle signs that their bodies are sending them and to not ignore those clues. Patients know their bodies better than we do, so paying close attention to little changes now may help to prevent a major illness down the road.
