I really love living in Eugene and working at the Student Health Center. I have actually been at the Health Center since 1979 (Doesn't seem that long!) and I was Director for the first 12 years. Prior to coming to the University I was a physician at Washington State University Student Health Center for two years and for three years was with the Indian Health Service near Spokane. There I provided medical care for the Spokane Indian Reservation Native American population.

I have also been involved over the years with teaching. I taught an introduction to clinical medicine course to medical students while at WSU and taught pathophysiology or the nature, prevention and control of common communicable and noncommunicable diseases to undergraduate students here at the UO for five years. I also published a book for college health courses in the Grolier Wellness Series entitled "AIDS, STD's and other Communicable Diseases ".

Working at the Health Center is very gratifying and a real challenge. Challenging because of the broad demands of Young Adult Medicine-which includes sports medicine and orthopedics, urgent care, internal medicine, dermatology, gynecology, preventative medicine and psychiatry/mental health. Gratifying because we get to work with students from all over the United States and the world with their varied backgrounds and their different educational goals and desires.
